Elizabeth “Lizzy” Grant , better known as Lana Del Rey, is a singer-songwriter from Lake Placid, New York. Lana Del Rey is known for making her songs and music videos with a vibe heavy on American themes, with images of surfing, Coney Island, Frank Sinatra, and Marilyn Monroe.Some of her inspirations include Allen Ginsberg, Elvis Presley, Britney Spears, Nina Simone, Nirvana, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan , The Beach Boys, and Antony and the Johnsons. 

I recently downloaded her first album, Born To Die. It is very good. It has a very 60’s hippy/folk vibe to it. I really like it and I’m glad that a girl has finally taken the spotlight in the indie world other than the girl from “Best Coast” who isn’t really in the indie “spotlight” per say…anymore.

I really enjoy this album and I’m counting down the days until she releases more work!
